When spark plugs get Old
Posted on 11. Jun, 2011 by admin in Cars
One of the major causes of hard starting is a fouled spark plug. Plugs must be changed sooner or later because they do not last forever. New plugs keep engines running at peak efficiency and when misfires go up, so do increased exhaust emissions and this wastes gas and power is reduced.
New plugs will improve starting on those cold mornings. Many batteries have been run dead while turning the engine over and over when the plugs could not lite the fire. Old plugs, when taken out, are seen to be dirty or worn. Just one misfiring plug can allow enough fuel into the exhaust to damage and overheat the converter so new plugs will lower the risk of catalytic converter failure.
Today’s spark plugs last longer and if you were to buy a used car, they would probably be your first concern. Next time you are shopping for a car, be sure to look try a search at car supermarkets. You can enter the type of car you are hunting for, along with the make and model and see what results come up for you. You can also shop by price range to help you find just what your are looking for. What could be easier?
